Roundup Ready® Soybeans
Features & Benefits | Economic & Agronomic Benefits | Crop Management
Simply the Most Profitable Way to Grow SoybeansRoundup Ready® Soybean varieties contain in-plant tolerance to Roundup® agricultural herbicides. This means you can spray Roundup agricultural herbicides in-crop from emergence through flowering for unsurpassed weed control, proven crop safety and maximum yield potential.
Maximum profit opportunity with no-till and the Roundup Ready Soybean System.
Efficiency—with reduced tillage and the system's unmatched weed control and flexibility, you get more time to spend where you need it most.
Convenience—the system's simple, unsurpassed weed control takes the worry out of soybean production.
Input costs for the Roundup Ready Soybean System—seed plus chemicals— have decreased over the last six years while other input costs rose.

Nearly a decade ago, the Roundup Ready Soybean System changed the way soybeans are grown by reducing weed control uncertainties. No longer should farmers have to:
Deal with three to four different herbicides and multiple applications
Burn beans while attempting to control weeds
Still have a weedy field at harvest
Today, nine out of ten farmers choose the Roundup Ready system for their soybean crop.1 Research shows customer satisfaction among farmers who use Roundup Ready Soybeans has been consistently higher than 95 percent every year since 1998.2

who planted Roundup Ready Soybeans in 1998-2003.
Planting professionally-grown seed takes out much of the guesswork because purity, germination and vigor are maintained for better yield potential. University and independent third-party research has shown that new, professionally-grown seed out yielded farmer-saved seed by an average of 1.8 bushels per acre in 266 comparisons.
Economic
Saves time and money on tillage trips.
Reduces fuel costs and machinery wear—up to $10 per acre total.*
Agronomic
Can reduce soil erosion up to 90%.*
Conserves up to 2 inches of moisture throughout the soil.*
Decreases soil compaction and improves soil tilth.

Potential outcome combines the cost savings of no-till and the yield advantage of a Roundup® agricultural herbicide program versus a conventional soybean herbicide program in Roundup Ready Soybeans. Yields and costs may vary by year and location.
1 Source: 832 Monsanto field trials in 1996–1998 comparing Roundup agricultural herbicides to conventional herbicides on Roundup Ready Soybeans. The 2.6 bu/A yield difference is directly related to the herbicide program, not to the tillage systems, as tillage systems were not compared in these studies.

To maintain the effectiveness of Roundup WeatherMAX® herbicide in a Roundup Ready® crop rotation, you should follow label directions for proper rates and weed sizes and use sequential applications to kill tough weeds. Weed escapes usually occur when herbicides are applied at below labeled use rates, when weeds are too mature or when application timing is outside the herbicide label.

Roundup Ready Corn 2
Start clean with a burndown herbicide or tillage.
Use a preemergent herbicide such as Degree Xtra®, Harness® or Harness® Xtra before/during planting. Use the Roundup Ready Rate of the residual herbicide.
Followed by at least one postemergent spray of Roundup WeatherMAX applied at full recommended rate before 4-inch weed height (to minimize weed escapes).
OR
Start clean with a burndown herbicide or tillage.
Make a single application of a tank mix sprayed just after corn emergence before weeds exceed 4 inches. (Follow residual herbicide label for maximum corn height).
Tank mix includes the Roundup Ready Rate of a preemergent herbicide such as Degree Xtra, Harness or Harness Xtra combined with Roundup WeatherMAX.
Roundup Ready Soybeans
Start clean with a burndown herbicide or tillage.
Optional—Preemergent herbicide such as INTRRO®, Valor® or other residual products.
One to two postemergent applications of Roundup WeatherMAX applied at full recommended rate and when weeds are 4 to 8 inches (to minimize weed escapes).
No-till soybeans significantly reduce potential for volunteer corn.
YieldGard® Corn Borer hybrids reduce ear drop when used alone or stacked with Roundup Ready Corn 2.
Choose hybrids with superior stalk strength and reduced lodging.
Control Roundup Ready Corn 2 in Roundup Ready Soybeans with a tank mix that includes Select® 2 EC. See the Roundup Rewards information for more details.

See the Roundup Rewards® program brochure for qualifications and benefits in your region. Roundup Rewards applies only to Roundup® branded and other agricultural herbicides specified by Monsanto.
ALWAYS READ AND FOLLOW PESTICIDE LABEL DIRECTIONS.
Roundup® refers to Monsanto's Roundup® agricultural herbicides. Roundup Ready® crops contain genes that confer tolerance to glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup® agricultural herbicides. Roundup agricultural herbicides will kill crops that do not contain a Roundup Ready gene.
