Roundup Ready® Canola varieties contain in-plant tolerance to Roundup UltraMAX II® herbicide, so growers can apply Roundup UltraMAX II herbicide in crop from emergence through the 6-leaf stage of development. Utilizing Roundup Ready Canola varieties and Roundup® agricultural herbicides have been shown to be more profitable for the grower than other production programs.* Traditionally, canola growers have had few herbicide options, limiting their opportunities to maximize yield and profits with canola. With Roundup Ready Canola, growers have the weed management tool necessary to improve profitability.

Protecting Roundup Ready Canola Technology

Employing new technology can reduce chemical usage and man hours while boosting efficiency and productivity. As with other Monsanto technologies, growers must sign a Monsanto Technology Agreement for either spring or fall planting before purchasing Roundup Ready Canola. In addition, growers must sign a Canola Use Agreement (CUA) to plant and market this patented technology. The CUA is available only through local retailers of Monsanto technologies and specifies the number of Roundup Ready Canola acres a grower plans to grow.

Application Options And Timing

Program — For Annual and Perennial Weed Control

For broad-spectrum weed control, use 11 oz/A of Roundup UltraMAX II herbicide in 5 to 10 gallons per acre water volume. No surfactant is required.

Make a second application of Roundup UltraMAX II at 11 oz/A per application any time up to the 6-leaf stage of canola (prebolting).

Do not exceed 11 oz/A per application.

Spray when canola is at the 0- to 6-leaf stage of growth. To maximize yield potential, spray canola early at the 2- to 3-leaf stage to eliminate competing weeds.

Wait a minimum of 10 days between applications. Two applications of Roundup UltraMAX II should:

  • Control late flushes of annual weeds such as foxtail, pigweed and wild mustard.

  • Provide season-long suppression of Canada thistle, quackgrass and perennial sow thistle.

  • Provide better yields by helping to eliminate competition from both annuals and hard-to-control perennials.

Single-Pass Program — For Annual Weed Control

For broad-spectrum control of annual and easy-to-control perennial weeds, make a single application of 16 oz/A of Roundup UltraMAX II.

For best results, spray at the 2- to 3-leaf stage. Roundup UltraMAX II can be applied up to 6-leaf stage.

No additional in-crop applications can be made.

Maximum Use Rate for Roundup UltraMAX II

Two in-crop applications: Do not exceed 11 oz/A per application.

Single in-crop applications: Do not exceed 16 oz/A. No additional applications can be made.
